Kireka Slum Rejuvenation Project
PROJECT PROFILE
National Housing and Construction Company Limited (NHCC) functions as a semi-quasi government entity with a specific mandate to address Uganda's housing needs. With a projected housing deficit of 200,000 units resulting from the metropolitan area's expansion into towns like Wakiso and Mukono, NHCC aims to confront this challenge and leverage immediate opportunities.
Two key projects, the Kireka Slum Rejuvenation Project and the Bukerere Housing Project, have been identified, and NHCC is actively seeking financial partners for their realization. The company owns 292 acres of freehold land in Kireka, Wakiso. NHCC intends to develop approximately 12,000 housing units in five phases.
The initial phase focuses on social housing for 1, 2, and 3 occupants, followed by subsequent phases featuring commercial residential options for various income brackets. The developments include apartment blocks, townhouses, villas, and necessary infrastructure, emphasizing sustainability in both design and implementation.
